Everyone has the right to live their life to the fullest. This includes those suffering from intellectual disability or better known as mental retardation. In the past, this minority of the population were deprived of a having a chance to learn independent skills. Most of them were even kept at home. The label of intellectual disability carried with a harsh social stigma and this unnecessary perspective limited them as well as their caregivers from experiencing the joys of just being alive.

With advancements in public education and mushrooming of more learning institutions, the negative effects of this social stigma have been greatly reduced. The intellectually disabled are more accepted into the mainstream now than in the past.

We at SUN-DAC Centre for the Disabled hope to provide learning opportunities for these unfortunate individuals to have a new lease of life.
